Herstellen na een festival: vier mentale gezondheidstips
Dances, drinks, and maybe a pill here and there? After such a festival day, you often feel completely drained. Had a great night, but the hangover, both physical and mental, is really unavoidable. That’s not strange at all, so don’t worry! In this blog, I give you four simple tips to recharge and quickly be back in the game. Yoga or meditation “Spiruwality”? Spirituality may sound a bit airy-fairy, but believe me, this is different. Yoga and meditation help you relax your body and calm your mind after all those festival stimuli. Try a short, calm yoga session or some breathing exercises. You will feel calmer, less stressed, and it helps you concentrate better. Moreover, it’s perfect against the muscle pain from a day of dancing. A nice stretch and letting your body recover work wonders! This way, in two days you’ll be ready to rock again during your full-body gym session or Pilates class with your best friend. Go outside After a festival where you may have taken 20,000 steps, the last thing you feel like is that ‘fresh air’. Yet fresh air and a short walk are super good for your recovery. A quick visit to the park or a few hours of sun can really boost your mood. Movement and fresh air give you new energy and help clear your mind and provide that well-known dopamine and serotonin boost. The sun ensures you produce vitamin D, which gives that whole recovery process a big push. In this way, you naturally and healthily replenish your happiness hormone. Take care of good nutrition and hydration After a festival, your body needs healthy fuel. Choose meals full of vegetables, fruit, and proteins to quickly regain strength. Avoid fatty snacks, although most people crave them the most afterward, and give your body what it really needs. Because of the dancing, alcohol, and heat, you lose a lot of fluids, so also drink plenty of water or a hydration solution to restore your balance. Also think of hydrating foods like cucumber, watermelon, and soup. They help recharge your energy and restore your fluid balance. This also helps you get rid of your headache and fatigue faster. Digital detox literally means: detoxing from digital media and thus putting your phone away. Give yourself some time to reflect. This gives your brain the chance to really rest, without new stimuli. After a festival, your head is often full of impressions, and constantly checking your socials only makes this worse. So, take a conscious break from your screens. Write down your festival experiences or share them with friends. This helps you remember the positive moments and makes the transition to daily routine easier. With these tips, you recover faster and feel better after an intense festival weekend. So take the time to take good care of yourself and enjoy all the beautiful memories!
